KONSEC Konnektor Single License packs are only available in the described sizes. The customer is allowed to break packs and redistribute licenses separately. KONSEC delivers one license key per user. Every license key has to be activated over the internet.

KONSEC Konnektor Volume Licenses are not breakable. KONSEC delivers one license object per installation which has to be installed on the server. There is no activation needed. KONSEC Konnektor Volume Licenses are available in any size from 25 users.

1. Open your Microsoft Outlook.
2. Right-click on your calendar and select "Properties".
3. A new window should open. On the lower left, you should find something like KONSEC XX.XXXX which is your Konnektor version.

1. Copy /kolab/etc/kolab/ca/cacert.pem from the kolab server to the windows box.
2. Rename it to cacert.cer.
3. Then double-click it and follow the “Install Certificate” wizard.

To Delegate to someone is to let this user use your Primary Email address to send emails. This is useful in case you let somebody else administrate your calendar for example (secretary).

Putting another user in your delegation field means you have to trust this user. The delegated user cannot be an external user.

Note: If you want your secretary to distribute invitations on your behalf, you will also need to give her write access to your calendar folder.

Server side (Owner of the account: Manager – Maintainer)

1. Log into the “My User Settings” page of the Kolab2 server web interface using your username (Primary Email Address or Unique Identity) and password.
2. Register the email address of the user you want to delegate to.

Client side (Microsoft Outlook)

1. Open a new email account with the other's name and email address.
2. Select the other's account when sending.

KONSEC Konnektor is prepared for mass installation using common windows installer tools. The KONSEC Konnektor is distributed using a Microsoft MSI package. The installation is straight forward and followes the MSI rules.

When using Zenworks it is recommened to use an UNC path for the location of the KonsecKonnektorEng.msi in order to avoid the need to mount a network drive.

Please don't forget to define suitable minimal resources for cpu, memory, disk space, Windows OS version and Outlook version.

The KONSEC Konnektor must be installed for all users using an account with administrator priviledges.

After the initial installation the KONSEC Konnektor is configured using the standard Outlook prf method.

The Kolab Server has the option to directly deliver regular mails to a
user specified folder. For English users this folder is called "Inbox" and
for German users it is "Posteingang". Invitations and other messages which
must be downloaded and processed with the Outlook pop3 transport provider
are left untouched.

Background Information: KONSEC Konnektor leverages the Outlook builtin
functionality to process invitations, new contacts and task assignments via
email. This functionality is not built directly into Outlook itself but into
the POP3 MAPI Transport Provider. In order to avoid the unnecessary download
of all messages with pop3 and then the additional upload via IMAP the above
mentioned option of the Kolab server filters the messages. This filtering is
done with an opensource php script on the server which marks the messages
as "X-Kolab-Scheduling-Message: FALSE" or "X-Kolab-Scheduling-Message: TRUE".
The Kolab Server then uses the Cyrus Imapd sieve extension to do the actual
delivery in a language specific subfolder. Activating the option as shown in
the attached screenshot enables the sieve script on the server while the
marking of the messages in enabled by default.

How to import .pst file data into Outlook
 Use the following steps to import a .pst) file into Outlook:

1. On the File menu, click Import And Export. If the menu item is not available, hover your pointer over the chevrons at the bottom of the menu, and then click Import and Export.
2. Click Import from another program or file., and then click Next.
3. Click Personal Folder File (.pst), and then click Next.
4. Type the path and the name of the .pst file that you want to import, and then click Next.
5. Select the folder that you want to import, or select the top of the hierarchy to import everything, and then click Finish.

How to transfer Outlook data from one computer to another computer
You cannot share or synchronize .pst files. However, you can use the steps in
the "How to import .pst file data into Outlook" section to copy data from
Outlook to a .pst file. You can use a CD or DVD-ROM, portable media, or copy
files to another system over a LAN/WAN link for use on another computer.
Remember the following requirements when you work with .pst files:

• When you copy .pst files from a CD- or DVD-ROM, verify that the Read-Only attribute is not set on the .pst file. To verify this setting, right-click the .pst file that you copied from the CD- DVD-ROM, and then clickProperties.
  Make sure that the Read-Only” check box is not selected.
• Connecting to .pst files over LAN/WAN links is not supported and problems connecting to .pst files over such links can occur. See the following for more information:

If you need to make a secondary .pst file to store data for transfer between two different computers, or for backup purposes, use the following steps:

1. On the File menu, point to New, and then click Outlook Data File.
2. Type a unique name for the new .pst file, for example, type Transfer.pst, and then click OK.
3. Type a display name for the Personal Folders file, and then click OK.
4. Quit Outlook.

If you just want to copy a .pst file that is in Outlook, use the following
steps:

1. In Outlook, right-click the folder you wish to copy and click Copy “foldername”. For example, to copy the Calendar, right-click the Calendar folder, and then click Copy “Calendar”.
2. In the Copy Folder dialog box, click your Transfer Folders, and then click OK.
3. You can repeat the steps as needed for other folders.

How to back up .pst file data that is located on a Microsoft Exchange Server

When you use Outlook with a Microsoft Exchange Server, the default Delivery
location for messages is your Exchange Server mailbox. This data is typically
backed up on the server-side. For more information about how backups are
handled for your Exchange Server, contact your Exchange Server administrator.

If you use Outlook with Exchange Server, you can choose to have Outlook
 store information on the Exchange Server or in a set .pst files on your hard
 disk drive. Use the following steps to determine where Outlook currently
 stores your data.

1. On the Tools menu, click Email Accounts
2. Click View or Change Existing Email Accounts, and then click Next.
3. Verify the Deliver new mail to the following location. option. If the option contains the word "Mailbox" followed by an e-mail name, Outlook stores data in folders on the Exchange Server. If the field contains the words Personal Folder or another name of a set of personal folders (.pst) file, Outlook stores new messages, contacts, appointments, and such in the personal folders (.pst) file on your hard disk.

KONSEC Konnektor is interoperable with KDE Kontact. In order to avoid problems with the names of the default calendar, tasks, contacts etc. in case users are using different localisations (e.g. in a mixed German/English environment) it is highly recommended to initially use KONSEC Konnektor to create these default folders on a fresh account. KDE Kontact will then pick up the default folders as defined by KONSEC Konnektor.

Yes, since Version 2.4.0.0 KONSEC Konnektor does support IMAP Idle.

The KQueue represents a buffer for communication between Outlook and
imap-servers. All instructions of Outlook and all answers from the
server to the successful assumption of these communication partners
become temporary in the KQueue over one memory- map-file buffered.

The first value represents the received imap-instructions from
Outlook to the server, which is in the KQueue buffered and did not
arrive thus yet with the server. The second value represents the answers
arriving from the server, which were not processed yet in Outlook and
thus in the KQueue are temporarly stored.

Some configurations are only for experienced users, available via the windows registry. Before modifying any data please save your current configuration in order to rollback anytime.

• Use Local Profile as REG_DWORD:
  • A value unequal to zero sets up the storage path for new outlook profiles to local userprofiles. Affected are PST and temporary KQueue data files.

  • The time in seconds for an IMAP-operation to complete. Default are 600 seconds.

• TNEF for events as REG_DWORD:
• A value equal to 1 saves all calendar entries as TNEF attachments in Kolab XML format on the server. This is a workaround for pure KONSEC Konnektor installations which dont't require interoperability with other Kolab clients.

Due to the offline capability of Kolab and the KONSEC Konnektor it is possible that two instances of Kolab clients modify the same object concurrently. If both clients are KONSEC Konnektors the most uptodate or recent entry wins. In case the other client was not KONSEC connector but another Kolab client like KDE Kontakt or the Kolab Webclient the objects get duplicated. The user then has the opportunity to resolve the conflict manually.

Yes. There is a full support of reminder for non-default calendar. A little handicap is a message box from outlook, that this feature does not exist. That doesn't matter and is beyond our power.

Outlook will syncronize some freebusy information from time to time. The following article describes the configuration of this feature.

To specify the update interval to publish Free/Busy information, change the following registry value to a value between 60 and 5940 seconds:

The KONSEC Konnektor MAPI Storage Provider uses a Microsoft PST for each configured account in order to store all messages from the subscribed personal folders, subscribed shared folders and subscribed public folders. All these messages are then available for offline usage.

Microsoft PSTs are available in two flavors. The older version is commonly called ANSI PST and was used up to Outlook 2002. Since Outlook 2003 Microsoft Outlook knows about Unicode PSTs.

The limit for ANSI PST is somewhere close to 2 GB. On the other hand the default limit for Unicode PST is around 20 GB.

In order to avoid problems with a too large PST a warning is issued starting from KONSEC Konnektor 2.4.0.0. This warning is displayed by Outlook and informs the user that the limit is reached and gived instructions how to decrease the number of messages.

Side note: This messages might be truncated in case the user chose Microsoft Word as composing editor instead of the built-in Microsoft Outlook composer due to a non fatal bug in Microsoft Office.

The default warning limits are:

• ANSI PST - 1.2 GB
• Unicode PST - 12 GB

You may change these limits following the procedures described in the Microsoft Knowledge Base http://support.microsoft.com/kb/832925/en-us.

Please note the following:

1. Unicode PSTs are available and recommended starting with Outlook 2003
2. Outlook 2002/XP only can handle legacy ANSI PSTs
3. When upgrading from an old version of KONSEC Konnektor (< 2.0.0.0) or from Outlook 2002 to a more recent version the old ANSI PST remains in use.
4. In order to benefit from the improvements of Unicode PSTs we highly recommend to migrate from ANSI PSTs to Unicode PSTs

Method 1: Export/Import via PST

• Stop retrieving new Messages from the Kolab/IMAP Server
• Use File_Export in File
• Choose PST-Format File
• Select all folders (select root folder and activate checkmark box "include subfolders")
• Choose a suitable local location for backup.pst (don't use a networked drive!)
• Import backuped items into new Unicode PST (Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007)
• Create a new Outlook profile according to the KONSEC Konnektor manual. Whenever a new KONSEC Konnektor store is created it uses the new Unicode PST format.
• Don't synchronize with the server.
• Import previously backed up items.
• Use File_Import to fetch the previously backuped items.

Method 2: Populate the newly created Unicode PST with the user data

• Freshly start Outlook and wait until the cog wheel stops rotating (This ensures that all data is synchronised with the Kolab/IMAP server)
• Stop Outlook
• Create a new Outlook profile according to the KONSEC Konnektor manual. Whenever a new KONSEC Konnektor store is created it uses the new Unicode PST format.
• Start Outlook
• Outlook will immediately start to fetch all messages from the server. After the cog wheel stopped rotating the synchronization is complete.

Note: We recommend method 2 due to easiness and because it is less error prone. The disadvantage of method 2 is some temporary increase in network bandwidth and server load.

Yes, since Version  2.4.0.0 KONSEC Konnektor does honour the privacy settings
for calendar entries (events) and contacts.

Microsoft exchange and does therefore not mean cryptografic confidentiality.
